China Intellectual Property Index Q2 2015
The number of China patents that were granted increased by 21%. The number of China patent applications that were published increased by 9%.
The number of China trademarks that were registered increased by 11%. The number of China trademark application that were filed increased by 42%.
Overall the China Intellectual Property Index increased by 20% from the first quarter of 2015. Every category of intellectual property increased. This indicates that Chinese entities continue to increase their investment in U.S. intellectual property.
Definitions
The China Intellectual Property Index is intended as a broad measure of intellectual property activity in the United States of America that at least partially originates from China. The Index tracks U.S. patent and trademark records that are filed by inventors and owners from the People’s Republic of China. The Index includes granted patents, published patent applications, registered trademarks and new trademark applications that have been filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
